Please disregard line above. must be  Southern California air quality that is  
affecting my thinking;-) 
what i meant was you can simply add an -s in the boot menu after the kernel$ 
line right  after  pressing e  key couple times,  it will work without need of 
deleting any thing, like it states in the how-to.
