[Would be really nice to get an answer here, because I could reproduce it, after no suggestion came in]
All this still goes with trying to get Realtek 8211cl working, in cooperation with Winson Wang of SUN (Zhen.W at sun.com), who had sent me a driver for this chipset to try out. What I did today, with the help of Winson (nge_64_mcp78 is the driver he prepared): 1. Fresh install of nv110, on real, blank hardware, from DVD, reboot 2. cp nge_64_mcp78 /kernel/drv/amd64/nge, reboot 3. add nge "pci10de,760" to /etc/driver_aliases, reboot 4. ifconfig nge0 plumb 5. ifconfig -a 6. ifconfig nge0 dhcp (Until here, everything looked okay) But: there is no /etc/resolv.conf, dhcp has not produced one. 7. added /etc/resolv.conf manually, and could 'dig'. (But still, I could not browse, probably due to some /etc/nsswitch?) 8. clicked Adiminstration->Network->Automatic, reboot Now it hangs after 'Mounting ZFS filesystems: (5/5) forever. I can still press the 'Enter' key, though. Another reboot brings no change. And, again, Failsafe fails with 'Error 15: File not found'! Whereas the 'normal boot' simply hangs. Uwe, who hasn't done anything else, a second time, fresh install, and hits the same failure Hardware: Asus M3N78 PRO -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
