Liang, thanks for your reply. The Problem (white screen, then red screen, then green etc. cycling through colors every ~ 1s) has now happened as well in plain X (Interactive Text Installation (Desktop)) as in gdm (Interactive Installation). Even with 8 MB shared video ram setting. But not everytime sometimes it worked so I was able to install SXCE and even boot to desktop. Sometimes i had the problems at boot and most time after logging out and in (X restart). Sometimes in could fix it by pressing ctrl+alt+backspace to force X to restart, but sometimes that didnt work either. Im now on OpenSolaris 2008.05 (Project Indiana) and try to update from there. I was unaware that the SX builds are a completely different branch and I want the Indiana Desktop environment, ZFS and IPS. I have 1 GB total RAM and 2Ghz Pentium M CPU. However, I read a post in msi forums where one guy had the exact same issue with Linux distributions and sometimes in Windows when changing resolutions. So I think I'm out of luck here and its a MSI-related issue ... I downgraded my BIOS Version to 2.80 because I read that they changed something in Video BIOS. I had to repeat the 2008.5 install because of the bug when I first tried to install it, so the problem isn't fixed. But so far it works stable and I keep my fingers crossed :-).
Thanks so far, Paul This message posted from opensolaris.org
