In the end I could add the IDE disk to my computer. Since this is connected
through a JMicron bridge en there might be some issues with this one in
Solaris, I connect to this drive through Solaris.
So I installed Ubuntu on one of my other drives. The Ubuntu installer is
ambigous when it comes to the notifications of installing the grub loader. So I
ended up overwriting my OpenSolaris grub menu on the third drive. Anyway after
a lot of reboots and grub fixes I managed to catch the 50GB of data from the
IDE to the SATA drive, which took at a rate of 32 MB/s still almost an hour.
