If you want to use ZFS as a root filesystem, you currently need to configure it manually yourself - the Solaris installer does not yet create ZFS pools/filesystems for you. Jumpstart is currently able to install recent builds of Solaris Express Community Edition (SXCE) into a ZFS root pool. There are a couple of bugs though:
1. If you have your swap on ZFS (on a zvol) then the system can deadlock under heavy load. 2. SXCE won't currently core dump to ZFS (or a zvol). Full support for ZFS as a root filesystem is expected to integrate into Nevada soon. This includes: - Ability to boot from ZFS on SPARC systems (currently only x86 and x64 can boot from ZFS) - Ability to use a zvol for swap without fear of deadlocking - Ability to use a zvol for core dumps - Support for installing to a ZFS root pool in the interactive installer I agree that RTFM is a pretty poor response - perhaps if your message was less combative you would have received a more friendly response. ;-) Cheers Andrew.
