Hi jkeil, thanks for your answer. yes, indeed it seems that I have a S-ATA controller. I had a look in the BIOS and I've noticed that the AHCI is configured but I cannot change to emulate any legacy P-ATA IDE controller because I don't have full access to all the configuration in BIOS (it's the company's laptop :-))
I tried already to install opensolaris build 64 and even 67 (the latest available) but they don't seem to have the proper drivers for my laptop :-( Unfortunatelly solaris (and opensolaris) is still way behind linux when it comes to drivers... This message posted from opensolaris.org
