At the start I see the following under the GNU GRUB:
Solaris Express Developer Edition
Solaris Express
Solaris Express Serial Console ttya
Solaris Express Serial Console ttyb (for lx50, v60x and v65x)

I select: Solaris Express Developer Edition

After a number of dots are display across the top of the screen I get the
following:

1. Solaris Interactive (default)
2. Apply driver updates
3. Single user shell

So I don't see the desktop console mode that you mentioned, unless you are
talking about the Serial Console ttya and ttyb modes...which I tried and things
stop after the number of dots are displayed across the screen.

I also downloaded another Developer Edition (sol-nv-b70b-x86-dvd) and I was
able to install it, but after the first reboot when I rebooted/restarted the
computer, it would start to boot then shut down the computer. This also
happened before, but I don't recall the details.
