And a few days afterward, GRUB and post-boot console access via the ILOM SSH (/SP/console) after kernel load stopped working, but the Java ILOM redirection console was still OK.
I changed the eeprom from "console=text" to "console=ttya" and that broke GRUB+kernel console on the Java ILOM redirection, but fixed the post-boot console via SSH. (GRUB has not been visible via SSH in either case.) Sigh. I changed eeprom back to "console=text" and at least I have a fully functional Java console.
