It just hangs at startup and I don't know how to debug/identify the problem.

- multiboot with Windows XP. AMD 64, 2 gig memory

Before attempting install I had checked that my hardware would be OK using the
device detection tool - All passed fine.

Prepared my partition as instructed, formatting (at first attempt) as a linux
swap file using GParted, and then fdisk (second attempt).

The liveCD booted with no problem whatsoever and the install seemed to run
well. (I've now done this a few times)

Restarted system and Grub loaded OK. Selected the OpenSolaris boot at which
point the screen switched to the blue load screen with the orange/red sweeping
beam. This stops after about 20 secs at which point the computer is
(seemingly) dead and needs to be switched of for reboot. I've left the
computer for 20 mins and no change. On a subsequent attempt I pressed a key
after selecting the OpenSolaris boot to view the text during load, but all I
saw was the Sun header - no kernel/startup messages.

I really don't know what to do. My experience is with Linux (10 yrs) and
Windows, I was hoping to get to learn Solaris, but...

Can anyone offer help?

Thanks

M
