Thanks for your suggestions. But unfortunately, this time the failure in OpenSolaris wiped out the boot record. So I was not able to boot either OpenSolaris or Windows on the second hard drive. I went back to using my old computer with Nvidia chip and it has run solid since then. My new somputer is now packed up and sitting in a corner until a fix of the Intel chip is available.
