Ironically, this behavior was a recent thread on the Apcupsd mailing list a week or two ago. The behavior of the daemon is to tank when it can't find the ups. More than likely your config is possibly wrong and it will work once you set it up right. I have several of these, and actually just bought two for a osol 0906 remote box I will be setting up soon. I am using the packages from http://kosjenka.srce.hr/~jsosic/BTW/ w/ smf support. This one has specific deps for usb based setups. Oddly enough, I just went to blastwave to see if the package they have has been updated recently and I can't even see it? They remove it?
