Do you get the GRUB menu where it lets you choose whether to boot into graphical or text mode? If it boots up that far, then select the "text mode" and tell us if it successfully gives you a Solaris command prompt with no graphical user interface after booting up.
Also, are you dual booting OpenSolaris with another operating system such as Microsoft Windows or Linux that has Java installed?
