How much RAM do you have in your computer? It's probably running slow because you have less than a gigabyte of RAM.
When you boot from the CD, OpenSolaris tries to load the entire CD into RAM, and the entire CD is somewhere around 700 megabytes, so if you only have 500 megabytes of RAM available, OpenSolaris is going to swap like crazy and run very slowly. RAM's cheaper than every right now, so I highly recommend getting 2 gigabytes of RAM in your computer if you haven't already (you'll need it so you can run Windows in a Virtual Machine inside Win4Solaris or VirtualBox and do other cool stuff like that). -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
