Hi, I have successfully installed OpenSolaris 2008.05 on my machine which runs an Intel Celereon 420 (single core) processor.
On something like 9 out of 10 boots, the system hangs with ATA timeouts and finally Vendor 'Gen-ATA ' error code: 0x3 . All the information I found on this in the forums / google is directed at multi-processor setups, and (as my Celeron is a single core cpu) is not applicable for me. Do you have clues as to what else I could try? I am a Linux/Solaris newbie, but will dig into documentation if just give me the right keywords / URLs. Otherwise my next step would be to update my system to the current development build, but I would rather find the problem and solve it opposed to just install a big update and hope it works (that's what I already have with Windows). Best regards, -bastian PS: things I already tried without success (most of the apply to the MP setup, but I gave them a shot nevertheless): - removed /platform/i86pc/ucode folder - booted with -B $ZFS=BOOTFS,ata-dma-enabled=0 - booted with -db, and disabled any further CPU (except for the one one I have :-P ) use_mp/W0 - botted with -B ...,disable-cpudrv=true -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
