I think that default web browser based remote desktop that comes with 2008.05 is very insecure (uses no encryption) and kind of slow (no good compression).
If you want a secure remote graphical desktop in Solaris (or in Linux) that has great encryption (because it runs through SSH) and has such good compression that it will run fast even from a dial up connection, you should really try the "NX Client" and "NX Server" from No Machine. Check out the following links: http://www.nomachine.com/download-package.php?Prod_Id=7 and http://korn.wordpress.com/2006/03/23/trying-out-nomachine-nx-on-solaris-10/ or just type the words no machine nx solaris into google and see what comes up. I think Sun also has their own official "Secure Global Desktop" products that are even more "hard core" in the security / encryption area because they're used by customers such as the banking industry and the military but I've never tried Secure Global Desktop so I can't comment on it. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
