Okay, so I have OpenSolaris installed, but I have a few problems. First off, I originally had Ubuntu installed, but it doesn't support my nVidia 9800GTX yet. So, I decided to give OpenSolaris a try. It appears to at least support the 9800. I have X11 working at my screen's full resolution (1900x1200), which is at least a positive sign, but it appears the nvidia driver is not enabled. I can't enable desktop settings (so I can use compizfusion), and when I open the nVidia X Server Setting, it says:
"You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server." I'm a bit of a newb, so I tried entering su, and then I typed 'nvidia-xconfig' and the terminal said: WARNING: Unable to locate/open X configuration file. sh: line 1: pkg-config: not found sh: line 1: pkg-config: not found New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' So that's where I'm stuck. Next, when I erased the hard drive that Ubuntu was on and installed Opensolaris, it looks like it kept the old Grub that Ubuntu was using active. I dual boot with windows vista, and the grub appears to be on the vista hard drive. So, when I boot up the computer, it stops at a grub failure, unless I disconnect the windows hard drive, and then I boot up into Opensolaris. So, I need to find a way to get rid of the Ubuntu grub. One last thing, I tried installing Magic VLSI and it gave me the error: "Configuration Summary (principle requirements): -n X11: yes -n OpenGL: yes -n Tcl/Tk: yes (version 8.4) -n BLT: no Tcl/Tk magic uses the BLT package to create a tree diagram of the cell hierarchy in a design. Without it, this option is unavailable. Consider installing the BLT package." I can't find this BLT package anywhere, when I google it, I just get sandwiches. Anyway, if I can get help for those three issues, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
