[tried my luck another time, different box. luupgrade went through "successful"; though with a flushing-by message of conflicts of sectors or so, it was on command line, so I couldn't recall it.]
After reboot, X does not start; it goes in circles: NOTIVE NVRM RmInitAdaptor failed (0x12:0x2b:1636) nv_open: rm_init_adaptor (0) failed. It is a PCIE GeForce 6200 card that seems to fail here.
