1) mount listed the partition that contained my Open Solaris install.
2) I had notes from my install that included the device ID for the IDE drive I 
added after the original install. 
3) I found some info on the Internet.   I am not exactly sure what was 
necessary but this is what I did.
4) zpool import
5) pfexec zpool import -f -R /tmp/rpool rpool
6) This gave me access to the remains of my last install.
7) I added a mount point for my IDE drive and then mounted it.

I was able to use cpio to backup the remains of my last install.  All I found 
was the  /export directory, but that gave me my documents and mail.
