Just to add to the list, I can vouch for an HP Pavillion dv2000 (was $550 US after rebates) and a Dell Latitude D530 running just fine with OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_101a_rc1b X86. In both cases the video looks perfect without intervention, the wireless and sound works out of the box.....all is good.
