I just did a clean reinstall today, and tried upgrading from snv_101 to snv_103 *again*.
/home is no longer a symlink, but using the automounter. artemis:~# zfs list -r -t all rpool NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT rpool 8.41G 24.8G 36K /rpool rpool/ROOT 6.40G 24.8G 18K legacy rpool/ROOT/snv_101 6.40G 24.8G 6.00G / rpool/ROOT/snv_101 at installed 287M - 6.20G - rpool/ROOT/snv_101 at configured 66.7M - 5.99G - rpool/ROOT/snv_101 at drivers_installed 27.9M - 6.00G - rpool/ROOT/snv_101 at snv_103 84.5K - 6.00G - rpool/ROOT/snv_103 122K 24.8G 6.00G /tmp/.alt.luupdall.7559 rpool/dump 1.00G 24.8G 1.00G - rpool/export 37K 24.8G 19K /export rpool/export/home 18K 24.8G 18K /export/home rpool/swap 1G 25.8G 16K - artemis:~# luupgrade -u -n snv_103 -s /mnt No entry for BE <snv_103> in GRUB menu Uncompressing miniroot Copying failsafe kernel from media. 52161 blocks miniroot filesystem is <lofs> Mounting miniroot at </mnt/Solaris_11/Tools/Boot> Validating the contents of the media </mnt>.
