Thanks for your reply. Well, I assume it's not Fahreheit but Celsius indeed. I have read on the Internet that the AMB chip on the FB-DIMM can get quite hot (for "old-school" FB-DIMMs up to 100 degree centigrade, meanwhile there are some low-power FB-DIMMs on the market which also "burn" less energy, i.e. the AMB is cooler). I believe I found that information on tomshardware.com, but I'm not sure anymore.
However, the Kingston memory had about the same temperature reading and it worked more or less. If the system was idle, it worked alright. The more I was doing with the system, the more likely it came to this crash. Today I have downloaded a Linux LiveCD and will play around with it tonight. Not that I want to go back to using Linux (I LOVE those things like Solaris Zones, SMF, ZFS, ... really don't want to go back), but I want to try if my problem is really hardware-related (as I assume for the moment). Another information in addition to my original posting: it does not make any difference if I use OpenSolaris b111, b111a or SXCE b106: the problem does not disappear -- well, not a big surprise, is it?! ;-) Cheers, Manfred -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
