Ok I managed to get the ext2/3 package installed :-) was just a case of extracting then pkgadd -d /path FSWpart nothing major just my inexperience :-) laptop is fine now!
However am still stuck with my triple boot desktop, I cannot seem to figure out which slice SXCE installed / onto. Either that or Linux GRUB just won't boot Solaris?? If worst comes to worst I guess I will have to install Solaris GRUB into MBR, however have no idea how to configure as /boot/grub/menu.lst looks really different from that of Linux version.
