Hi,
new here, so go gentle. Flush with the results of configuring and
installing
2009.06 on a couple of Xeon based machines ( apart from
some tape drive recognition issues due to an unsupported Adaptec scsi card
(on going)), thought we'd try and install on the following hardware (was
running vmware esxi server):
supermicro h8sdr-8 (broadcom serverworks ht2000/1000 chipset),
on board adaptec AIC7902 scsi
ATI RageXL 8MB on board Graphics
8G ddr 400 sdram
2x opteron 285 dual cores
live cd boots, gets the grub menu, posts the sun license bumf, outputs some log
stuff, finishing with
syncing file systems done ...
then abruptly reboots.
text console mode behaves identically.
we've tried burning another cd (same problem), flashing to the latest bios
(same problem).
SCE snv_112 hangs at the Sun license stuff ...
opensolaris 2008.05 bombs (didn't make a note of which stage)
Machine boots solaris 10 x86 flawlessly (apart from an error message
about some missing microcode patch - the reasoning behind flashing
the mb bios - went away after flash) (Generic 127128-11 32bit if it helps)
Surprising all this, since some of the older sunfire machines use similar
hardware i believe.
Anyone ? Any ideas ?
