Did you buy these thumpers from Sun or did you get them used / second-hand? I
don't think Sun sells x4500 thumpers anymore. Now a days they sell a vastly
improved version called the x4540 instead. Check out the link below where it
says these are no longer orderable and have been superceded by the x4540's:

 http://www.sun.com/servers/x64/x4500/

If you bought these servers from Sun, you should be able to try it free for 60
days and then after you buy it, you get support and a two year warranty
included automatically as part of the cost of the server or something like
that, right? Did you try contacting Sun support for help (or to invoke your
warranty) instead of using these forums? I think even if you didn't buy this
server from Sun (and got it second hand) you should be able to get the official
support and Sun will (in my experience) usually send a tech out to your data
center to fix whatever is broken with the server.

All I can say is, it sounds like these might possibly be broken / damaged goods
and good luck if you bought these things broken / second-hand off e-bay and
didn't purchase any support from Sun. It's a real pain in the rear replacing
broken parts on one of these 48 terrabyte monsters if you've never done it
before and don't know what you are doing (still less of a pain than dealing
with a used second-hand Dell server with a broken Perc RAID card with all the
data in a hardware RAID 5 configuration though, which is something I've had to
deal with more times than I would like to admit).
