It was possible on Windows Vista, should be able to do it on XP.  As I 
remmeber, I didn't take the default on where to locate the virtual disk, and 
defined it later, or took a default and deleted and redefined it later.  It was 
a late night.  All SATA drives as well.  I had been thinking of dual boot and 
saw the virtualbox software and gave it a try.  "most things work, and this is 
really a sandbox for learning solaris (so many os's so little time).
