It has been our common practice to install the OpenSolaris vbi in a disk separate from the disk on which the host OS is located--be it a second SATA disk or a USB HD/Flash--so that it can be shared by different operating systems (e.g., Vista, XP, variour Linux distros). Make sure that that the disk is NTFS-formatted, as the osol image can easily out-grow the vfat 4 GB limit. This message posted from opensolaris.org
