To cut a long story short: I have two hdds, one with Windows which has suffered
some rather nasty problems and another with SXDE. In order to (try to) recover
what's on the first hdd I need to install Windows on the second one with the
SXDE. The Solaris hdd is currently partitioned into four primary partitions,
first is empty, second has the SXDE and third and fourth also sit empty.

Basically what I'm wondering is whether it matters on which of the three free
partitions I'll be installing XP? And my main fear is whether XP is likely to
do something to the MBR so that I won't be able to boot into Solaris, will it
be enough to just set as not active the XP partition for example? I don't have
anything whose loss I'll mourn on my second hdd, the one with the SXDE, I just
don't want to bother again installing it and customizing it.

Thanks!
