> Does anyone know if CorelDraw And Photoshop run on > Solaris?? > If yes, how do I get the support?
Several years ago, Corel ported CorelDraw to Linux; it turned out to be the second worst (paid, commercial) software in the history of computing. (The No. 1 worst dude is the WordPerfect Office for Linux; both are based on WINE "emulation".) I have purchased every version of CorelDraw until version 12. For superficial users like myself, the Draw program in OpenOffice/StarOffice actually does a more than adequate job, and its user interface is much more intuitive (at least for me). Inkscape is another open-sourced vector-based drawing program. It is included in most Linux distros. One of Sun's engineers reported that it has been successfully compiled in Solaris, but I don't know what has happened to it. For pixel-images, GIMP is, feature-wise, much closer to PhotoPaint and Photoshop than Draw to CorelDraw. But GIMP has a very weird user interface which takes a while to get use to, if ever. In about 2 to 3 weeks, we should see the release of SXCE 75, which will have xVM (Sun's version of XEN) integrated therein. I have seen screenshots of Microsoft Windows running inside Solaris under xVM. They look very impressive. This message posted from opensolaris.org
