Hi,

I am a new French user of OpenSolaris (used to be on FreeBSD and Linux before).

I want to "build" a file server (NAS) using ZFS and a 8 hard drives RAIDZ.

For now I have these hardware :
- Motherboard : Tyan Toledo i3010W
- Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (1,86Ghz - 1066MTs - 4096Ko)
- RAM : 4x Crucial DDRII 2Go (667Mhz - ECC Unbuffered)
- SATAII Controller Card : 2x Sil-3124 (4 ports SATAII, PCI-X)
- OS Hard Drive : Transcend SSD Drive 8Go SLC SATA
- ZIL Hard Drive : Gigabyte i-RAM SATA + 4x 1Go DDR (400Mhz - Low Density)
- DATA Hard Drives : 8x Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 500Go SATAII
- Rack : 8x Icy Box IB-168SK-B
- Power Supply : Antec Earthwatts 430
- Case : Sharkoon Rebel9 Economy Edition Noir
- Processor Radiator : Noctua NH-U12 + Arctic Silver 5
- Fan : 4x Noctua NF-P12

I still have not receive my two Sil-3124 cards, but I have some second thoughts
or regrets...

I read many times on different forum (including this one) that the si3124
driver is not really fine (no NCQ for exemple, some bug...) but I have already
bought these cards.

So I wonder what SATAII controller non-RAID card is really fully compatible
with OpenSolaris ? (some references please)

I need to plug 8 SATAII hard drives and I have 2 PCI-X available on my
motherboard.

Thank you and sorry for all my language mistake.
