Hi, FWIW, I have a Dell XPS laptop with a nVidia 7900 GS video card and OpenSolaris 2008.11. I can use the 'nVidia X server settings' configuration tool to activate an external display trough the VGA or the DVI port. They both work flawlessly (I'm using the laptop as a media center with a 42" LCD TV).
