Even though the upstream bug report only mentions gcc -O3 as
generating the error, we saw similar issues in 2.3.6 compiled
with Sun Studio 11, as delivered in Solaris - given the fix
was in the code delivered as 2.3.7, I'd say it was likely a
code bug exposed by certain optimizations that gcc -O3 &
Sun cc -xO4 have in common.
