I'm pretty new to opensolaris and while I can get it to install, I can't quite
seem to make it work right.

I'm trying to build a storage server for my house and would like to base it on
opensolaris and zfs. I did some research and bought an Intel DG33TLM
motherboard which has 6 sata ports and is on the HCL:

While solaris will install, on both the livecd and on booting from the hard
drive, it is extremely slow. Even booting from the HD, it will take >5 minutes
to get from where it says Solaris 5.11 64-bit etc. to where it says the line
"hostname: opensolaris".

Once that does happen and the computer is booted, the gui is very slow as well,
the mouse will studder as you move it and clicks will not be registered.
Starting firefox or the package manager will take at least a minute to see any
response on the screen.

The computer is a Core2Duo E6400 and 4gb of ram. Beyond what is on the
motherboard, the only other things I have plugged in are the hd and cdrom.
I've also tried a different hd and not having the cd drive pluuged in once the
install was finished.

I tried looking up other people using this board and it appears that people
have built systems around this using opensolaris. Since I'm pretty new to
solaris I don't really know where to go from here and was hoping somebody could
nudge me in the right direction.

Oh one other weird thing is that the network card is detected, but won't work
until I unplug the cable and plug it back in.

Thanks for any help,
