Yeah, but I don't think virtual box will let you have OpenSolaris 2008.05 as the main host operating system and let you have a Windows guest that will be able to detect your Hewlett-Packard printer / fax / scanner machine and install the drivers for it correctly, for example. Or at least I haven't been able to get it to do that, have you?
I think VirtualBox is a great product and I use it a lot for running OpenBSD virtual machines under OpenSolaris, but I think Win4Solaris is better for the specialized case of running Windows under Solaris for playing video games or using printers and scanners or fax machines and other peripherals where you only have a Windows driver for the peripheral because it focuses on just being good at one thing: Windows --> Solaris compatibility. It doesn't try to support Debian and Red Hat and OpenBSD and the million other operating systems that VirtualBox does. I also don't think Virtual Box has good USB printer / fax / scanner support for the virtual machines, or at least it didn't have it the last time I checked. I'm also not 100% sure but I think Win4Solaris and Win4Lin have been around longer than Virtual Box and VMWare has as well, so Win4Solaris and Win4Lin seem like they might be more mature products. This is all just my opinion though. I could be wrong. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
