Hi...

I've been running SXDE snv_79a and, seeing that it has a limited future,
wanted to upgrade to the new 2008.05 version. I did what appeared to be a
successful luupgrade from 79a onto a different partition on my OS disk
(ufs). The only error was a failure to install SUNWscmu, but I don't have
any StorageTek stuff so I don't think that should affect system viability.
When I went to reboot, the default GRUB came up with the snv_79a failsafe
as the default and when I tried to select either b87 or its failsafe
version to boot, the machine just hangs, usually with a processor error
upon reboot which I have to clear. The failsafe version gets as far as
"configuring /dev" while b87 itself gets as far as the build
version/copyright notice on the screen. I am able to revert back to the
79a version and things resume working normally.

Can someone help me with ideas why this won't boot or what to try?

                      Thanks...
