Ah, *now* I have enough information to make an intelligent guess, and point you in the right direction. SMB sharing is usually done via mDNS & friends. That's handled on OpenSolaris by Avahi. NFS - at least to Mac's - can be done the same way. Done right, those names will also work in your browser.
