Ah, *now* I have enough information to make an intelligent guess, and
point you in the right direction.

SMB sharing is usually done via mDNS & friends. That's handled on
OpenSolaris by Avahi. NFS - at least to Mac's - can be done the same
way. Done right, those names will also work in your browser.

I don't have anything but Unix boxes, and have had DNS & DHCP doing
this for a long time, so can't help with Avahi.
