anyway, opensolaris made good progress wrt installation on intel/amd i386 
machines. What my overall point to tell as of now is that we need to go some 
extra mile by enabling open solaris to install on all kinds of disk partitions 
and dual boot with windows for evaluation and smoother migration. So, that open 
solaris becomes a good desktop machine as windows and ubuntu.
