Download the current version from www.firefox.com. Extract it to for
example: yourHomeDirectory/Downloads/ that will automatically create a
firefox directory. You can do two things: 1. from the new firefox
directory type "./firefox" (from a terminal) that will launch the new
firefox that you just downloaded. 2. Change the properties of the
firefox icon on the top of the desktop (like quick launch in windows) to
point to this file. So whenever you click the firefox icon you will
launch the new firefox.
