Audio was completely overhauled after 2009.06 - are you using current /dev
builds?

OpenSolaris uses Xorg, same as all Linux & BSD distributions. GEM is a
work in progress, since Intel wrote it for the Linux kernel, and the Sun
team had to port it to the OpenSolaris kernel. It's currently being
tested now and planned to deliver in the /dev builds in about a month.
