Thank you for pointing out 126. As a result or your post, I tried build 126 today. Indeed, by using -B disable-pcieb=true we are able to bypass the boot bug and get the system to start. CIFS is also more stable.
But the network connection (ethernet inerface) seemingly will not operate at gigabit speeds in 126 on vmware. I see that there are bugs already filed regarding this issue. Do we not yet have a build in Opensolaris that will combine: 1) Functional CIFS export from ZFS 2) No panics on boot within VMware 3) Gigabit ethernet in order to use Opensolaris as a basic fileserver?
