This is hopefully a basic question ---- I started with 2008.05 or 2008.11, snv_xx. I eventually, via updates, moved on to snv_98. After 98, I found that my most mundane device, a USB multicard reader, stopped working or stopped being able to hot-mount flash memory cards and USB sticks of all kind.
So, i reverted back to snv_98 for a year. I most recently revisited the update repository, and I am now running snv_111b. But, 111b breaks my VNC server connection (grey screen, no logon) and I have not had the chance to revisit the USB card reader because of other "breaks." The server itself still works, but it is pretty much crippled if i update beyond snv_98. I think having no clue what is going on with the updates is causing much of my trouble.
