I can recommend as generally good idea and from point of development platform to use dev versions of OpenSolaris.
1) You must set dev repository (http://pkg.opensolaris.org/dev/) either in GUI Package manager or in CLI with pkg command 2) Don't know this layout so sorry I can't help you in this area. If it's not in options for keyboard then I don't know if it's possible to use it 3) 2010.02 will be January 2010, but there are now some posts from people from Sun which talk about 2010.03 so maybe March Don't worry about it either because of http://www.oracle.com/features/suncustomers.html or because OpenSolaris is developed under CDDL license so there are big chances that it will continue even in case of big troubles PS: You can download latest dev iso for installation from here http://www.genunix.org/ .
