I installed OpenSolaris 5.11(snv_111b) on a Gateway notebook 7508GX. During the
install it complained about the network device (I think it is not recognizing
it), there was a message about "3rd" party support, etc. Bottom line is it
doesn't see it. This works fine with all versions of linux. Do we still have
the same old problem with opensolaris that we used to have with the old solaris
8 limited support for hardware, and if so am I stuck with using linux or can I
get openolaris working somehow ? I have even a worse issue with trying to
install it on an ibm intellistation desktop (that works fine with linux). The
install gets to a certain point (not far) and keeps rebooting into an infinite
loop. Ugh ! What a pain, not a very good start with opensolaris
