I recently upgraded my motherboard to a supermicro x8sil. There are a few
problems, using the 2009.06 release the video drivers work fine with the live
cd but after install X cannot start. This can be solved either by using the
VESA driver or by going upto the latest version (currently 132). The other more
major problem is with the NIC. There are two Intel 82574L NIC's on-board. After
boot the network connection will work for a variable amount of time before the
NIC's go down. Neither NWAM or ifconfig reports anything amiss when this
happens, the only way to tell is by reading the /var/adm/message log file. The
log will contain:

Feb 12 20:41:35 HostName e1000g: [ID 801725 kern.warning] WARNING: pciex808
6,10d3 - e1000g[0] : Invalid NVM checksum. Please contact the vendor to update
t he NVM.
Feb 12 20:41:35 HostName e1000g: [ID 801725 kern.warning] WARNING: pciex808
6,10d3 - e1000g[0] : Adapter initialization failed
Feb 12 20:41:35 HostName e1000g: [ID 801725 kern.warning] WARNING: pciex808
6,10d3 - e1000g[0] : Reset failed

Once this happens you cannot use ifconfig to down / up the adapter and the
network will be completely down. There have been reports of a very similar
error occurring with various flavors of Linux, one possible solution is to
rebuild the driver with a few lines of code commented out, this has not been
verified.

Any possible pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Al
