I've got an X8SIL-F with the same issue. Typically only one of the two onboard nics shows up and if you try to use it then the system locks up.
I returned two boards before I realized they weren't defective and that this was likely a driver issue. I took a closer at the OS Compat list on SuperMicro's site and it's very specific about what this board works with. I've verified that it's fine under Windows Server 2008 R2 and CentOS 5.4 and that it does NOT work under Fedora 12, OpenSolaris 131 or Nexenta 3.0 (a2-a4). I tested both Intel PRO/1000 PT & ET Dual-Port Server Adapters in the bottom PCI-E slot and they were both fine, so I'm just using the ET. It would be nice to get the onboard parts working though since I was planning on sticking a 10Gbe card in that slot. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
