Is there any nice, straightforward way to select at boot whether to load a GDM desktop or stick with text console?
On a live CD or USB image, there is an option in the GRUB menu to pass 'livemode=text' to the kernel and keep it from loading X, but, I tried that on a full installation, and, not surprisingly, it doesn't work the same. I know how to enable or disable the GDM service with svcadm, but that's not quite what I want. I want to boot to a full graphical desktop most of the time, but I want to be able to select some magic option at boot time to tell the system to disable GDM login just for one session. Anyone have any brilliant advice? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
