Hi, you could always add another grub boot instance with the 'text mode only' option.....
check /rpool/ I can't remember the name of the dir exactly now as I'm not in Solaris but should be something like /rpool/ROOT/boot/grub/menu.lst add another instance of your current BE and disable any graphical parameters that might be lurking around like splash image etc.... That's the only way that I know of anyhow. Linux is a lot easier and I wish that OpenSol becomes like that one day but for now we make do with what we've got unless anyone more qualified knows otherwise :-) Regards, Kaya On 03/07/2010 07:57 PM, Rand All wrote: > Is there any nice, straightforward way to select at boot whether to load a > GDM desktop or stick with text console? > > On a live CD or USB image, there is an option in the GRUB menu to pass > 'livemode=text' to the kernel and keep it from loading X, but, I tried that > on a full installation, and, not surprisingly, it doesn't work the same. > > I know how to enable or disable the GDM service with svcadm, but that's not > quite what I want.
