Same here though, but this makes your emacs monochrome. I think someone could grab an xterm-color thing from Debian for the right next release this month and make sure VIM and Emacs works as it actually should, finally. :-) I did the same: just took one from some Ubuntu 9.04 somewhere, then overwrote it in my OSOL and now everything foobar.
