I have followed all the instructions for how to
install a test kernel such that if it does not work
you can boot the original...... it does not work.

I have ftp-ed my Install.i86pc.tar to / (root) and
untared it there. My new kernel is recognized by the
boot manager but it will not boot. It's start to boot
and goes back to a reset stage. It cycles like that
forever.

Unfortunatly the original kernel behave the same. The
only thing that boot is the failsafe (kernel?) in
which I get cmd prompt.

One only difference I found is that one needs to untar
the Install.i86pc.tar being in the gnome directory (?)
on the target machine.

Any experience how to make ANY kernel boot in this
state?

Thanks,
-Michael
