Generally speaking, you need to download a nVidia driver first, and
modify the "Screen" section of xorg.conf to enable your preferred
resolution. If there is still a problem, please give us the following info:
your graphics card model:
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf
(if there is no such file, use Xorg -configure to get one and cp it to
that place)
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
