I do also encounter problems with b81. I downloaded it yesterday and burned it. Before I checked the md5 sums, all were ok. So I started a new install and after the initial steps with the interactive installer the final installation went wrong.
As I looked into the install log I saw many entries where the directory has not been found (/a/var/...). I even do not know if this directory exists at all, but I am quiet sure that the install process is a kind of broken. Hope that the subsequent versions go more well.
